Benbecula
Benbecula lies between North and South Uist and is linked to them by
causeways. In addition to having a modern well equipped community School
at Liniclate, it is home to a Military Range.

Causeway |
To the East a small bay called Peter's Port is home to a breeding
colony of Heron's. Otters are often spotted on the beaches here, and
Eagles soar overhead. Seals lie about sunning themselves on the seaweed
covered rocks in the bay, and the local fishermen land their catch of lobster.

In 1746 Prince Charles Edward (Bonny Prince Charlie) escaped from here
dressed as Flora Macdonald's maid, sailing over to Skye in a rowing boat. |
